Video Not So Ezy

I've been rolling around on the bed for the past hour can't seem to drop off. Funny how I've no mood to stay up the past few weeks since I fell sick. Anyway, I've managed to watch the whole "Heroes" Season 1 on DVD last week. Way Better than catching it on TV, in my opinion. I rented it out from one of those Video Rental chains.

I've been thinking lately that I wanna work in a video rental store someday. Not one of those chains but rather a mom-and-pop kinda video rental store. Where store policy that don't make any sense don't rule the day.

In MY video rental store, if you've spent more than $100 in the past 2 months on rentals, or at every visit you check out 3-5 titles each time, I will make every EFFORT to know your NAME. I will make every EFFORT to know your taste in movies and let you know when your favourite TV series DVDs are available.

I will NOT sucker you into buying a package deal where we'll give you vouchers for two movies if you pay $50 upfront. That is rubbish. My record shows you've spent hundreds of dollars at my store then you DESERVE those damn vouchers. Period. No rules. No conditions. Use it right now if you want. Every once in a while you inadvertently return your DVDs a few days late. "No Problem, Mr So-N-So. We'll waive the late fines this time round. See you soon! Have a nice day!". And I bet you, you will see Mr So-N-So again very soon.

Of course not every customer is an avid movie fan like Mr So-N-So. But if you treat me like that, I'm a customer for keeps. And I will not hesitate to tell you where you're screwing up and how you can improve your service because I will not jump onto the next cheaper deal video rental store that springs up so easily.

I still love browsing through the racks and see what classics I wanna re-watch or new movies I might have missed. So I won't be jumping onto the online video rental anytime soon. Besides I might have time to watch 5 movies this week but no time for the next 3. My free time can be very random. No way I'm paying 30 bucks a month for that.

Is my Big Chain Video Rental Store getting this feedback? No. This is gonna be MY store. That Big Chain Video Rental Store can go and shove it.
