My Plate

Swamped by Work? Too many things you're worried about? Can't track it all? Well here's one great albeit corny solution for you. The "My Plate"!!!

Use half a post-it for any new things or projects that you need to address. Write it down and stick it on your Styrofoam plate. Any time you're worried about what you need to do and whether you forgot something, look at the plate. Got some free time to fill up? grab something from the plate and start working on it. Can't finish? stick it back on. Actually finished a task? Rip that Post-it off, Rumple it up and chuck it out. Feel the satisfaction of thrashing it.

However the best thing I like about this tool is that every time I'm thinking of taking on some new tasks, or being asked to do some new stuff, all I need to do is take a look at my plate and see if I should squeeze some more stuff on it. Helps me to say no to other's and to myself. It also means you have to work double time to start clearing it.

It's corny but sometimes you just have to admit to yourself that " My Plate is Full!"

Warning! Technique might not work with a Salad Bowl or any other big plates!!

--mäd loves being corny.
